Esthia and Ambrose both served as Knights of the Mystic Fire, paladins dedicated to Mystra, goddess of magic. Esthia had this necklace commissioned for Ambrose, telling him it would ensure his safety when she could not hold him in her arms. On his last mission, Ambrose sent the necklace back to Esthia with a note telling her he had met another woman and would never return to the chapterhouse. Heartbroken, Esthia threw the necklace into a ditch, where it was later found by a peddler.
